Thats what got me,even the police, with no evidence got on the band wagon!!

Don't get me wrong, the builder was over the top but there are two sides to the story and it seems to me everyone now is looking for reasons not to pay in full and authorities just excepts their excuses
Even saw a program the other day were that said, never give deposits, only pay after a month when all ok,what tripe
Authorities seem to be encouraging cowboy customers and there actions !!

imho

done a job at a house this evening, cowboy builders-definately. unregistered gas work and electricals total charge £1,800 no certs.
plasterboarded and skimed boxing around electric meter and gas meter/e.c.v and left a six inch hole to read meters.
left of all rads to house since xmas threatened custards for full money and bogged of.
buildings inspector wont pass of job for 101 reasons.

yeeee haaaaaaaaaaa.

amazing, even the cops have a price in there heads for repairs, every ones at it.

what about a programme on cowboy customers who fail to pay.

in 10 years in the trade ive had the odd one and ive told them one of 2 things

1 sure mr smith thats fine but im sure youve seen these cowboy builder programmes , well there now doing one on customers who find exscuses not to pay. i will be passing your name and address onto them and also to local building merchants so should any other tradesman go to get materials for you it will alert the tradesmen your a non payer

2 no problem mr smith i will just pass that onto my debt recovery firm wqho i am registered with

i always walk awa after that.

best one i had was a job for 2 ceilings plastering 4 bathrooms all tiled etc etc i was owed £3k and finished on the 3 days early on a tuesday . bearing in my this lot took my 3 weeks todo and the customer was coming down every days saying how great it lookoed , even said the bathrooms looked like show homes. so she was one happy bunny anyway asked for my remaining £3k she went nuts saying this isnt what we wanted its all wron were not paying and no matter how much i tried to reason with her wasnt having a bit of it. i even showed her the plans they had signed.

so i walked away saying fine no problem ill pass on to my debt recovery firm. friday night bout 9 pm phone rings the husband can i go round sat am . i said nope sorry i wasnt changing or reparing anything it all worked and i was in the process of regaining all my materials. i eventually agreed to go round . turns up sat am £3k cash in hand a crate of stella. i asked him why all the messing about he replied she doesnt have access to the safe where the money was been kept. i said if shed just said can i come back sat when her husband was back he had the money there wouldnt of been a problem espically as i had finished early. she never appologised though. its not my fault i have no hair.pig

i still sent them a christmas card though and thanked them for there valued custom

had a custard just before xmas,he wanted a built in gas oven fitting, when i arrived i explained he had not got an existing gas point and that an extra charge would be incurred to which he agreed, after finishing the installation i asked for the agreed payment to which he replied he was not prepared to pay,he said he was going to call the company he had purchased it from and complain,i said go ahead which he did, while he was on the phone i removed all my fittings and capped off the supply to the oven, said i was off(did not tell him i had removed fittings).called back in new year after he agreed to pay the additional costs plus a re-call fee.wonder how he did xmas dinner😀😀😀

When I was doing garden maintenance with the old man, customer refused to pay after cutting her grass, Not quite sure why??
But couple of days later kept about half a truck full of grass cuttings n tipped them all over her lawn!!
Felt quite good to be honest!!😀😀😀

I've got that feeling in my belly that I'm going to get done.

Did some work on a thermal store the other week. Rented property. Haven't met the owner. Discussed it with her over the phone.

Checked everything. All seems great. Told her problem is at the meter. Not my area. Call the supplier.

Few days later I get a call, the supplier's engineer say's everything his end is ok, can I go and meet with him. So I drop everything and pop over there. We work out together it was the main switch at the consumer unit Intermitent fault. Which I changed and now it's working perfectly. Cut a long story short..my original diagnosis stood.

I asked where my cheque is the other day and got a load of excuses, but was told it would be sent before they go on holiday. They left yesterday, still no cheque.
