First of all I am not a heating engineer but I have a very strange problem with my boiler. I have a 4 year old Main combi 24 HE.

The central heating works perfectly, but when I turn on any hot tap in the house the burner will fire up for 10 seconds then the burner will go off for 10 seconds and this will repeat endlessly, so the water is going from hot to luke warm in a cycle. There are no error lights showing.

I have tried all the taps and shower, even running them together with different variations of being fully open or running slowly but the result is the same. I have had 2 different gas safe engineers round. Neither have a clue what is wrong and said they can find no fault with the boiler.

The second engineer replaced the thermostat even though it was ok anyway and spent 3 hours striping the boiler and checking for blockages but found nothing. He thinks the water is getting too hot which is why the burner is turning off and on but everything looks perfect. Turning down the water temperature knob doesn't help and the water pressure coming out of the tap is fine.

There must be a logical reason for this. Maybe the fault is external of the boiler? Please can anyone help?

You need a gsr in to look at your boiler. We cannot and will not give advice on the installation or repair of boilers for your own safety.

Please go to Gas Safe Register | Ensure your gas engineer is registered. or post a thread in the 'I'm looking for a plumber / gas engineer' section of these forums remembering to include your location. [DLMURL="http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/im-looking-plumber-gas-engineer/"]I'm looking for a Plumber or Gas Engineer[/DLMURL]

If you are gsr please increase your post count to 10+ then send a pm to either Gas man or Redsaw who will then check you and then give you access to the gsr private forum.

Thank you.
