Ever been put on the spot when pricing a job like "But she's a pensioner!" or "Can't you just do them a favour?"

I used to feel guilty for some unknown reason and give in so as not to look like your stereotypical plumber but 20 years has taught me to reply with;

• "Do you beg for discount at the till in Tesco?"
• "Do you protest when a solicitor asks you for £200 for a ten minute phone call which you actually initiated by dialling in the first place?"
• "Do you ask the taxi driver to knock 20% off because you fought in WW1?"
• Do you complain when the bar staff ask for the full price of your drink?"

NO YOU DON'T SO WHY DO YOU ALWAYS TRY IT ON WITH YOUR PLUMBER?

I normally find the ones that question the bill / are a pain have money old mrs Jones down the road who doesn’t have any scrap together she can’t do enough for you / even gives you a tip etc

Yes,, the ones with money, or think they have are a pain. The ones who are on there arses or have saved for months to have work done are great. I suppose it's people who appreciate the value of money are the better customers.

Anybody questions the price and its get somebody else. They'll be a pain to get money off at the end.

Pensioners, as a generation, have more money than any of us will ever see. Then there's the odd one or two who are genuinely hard up , but see post 3.

Totally agree with @ShaunCorbs and @SimonG here; people who have nothing give you more, whether it be a tip at the end of a job or just a piece of life advice.

Strange world we live in when you think the poor give more... Wow, what a tagline that'd make.
