image.jpgHi

Got sent to this job today, butler sink.

Waste is leaking, very slight.

Would an ordinary strainer waste fit? Obviously I would have to change the waste pipe.

I couldn't budge the back nut and as I didn't have a waste fitting on that I was confident would fit, I told customer I'd have to order a new fitting and return.

any tips on how to remove the waste fitting?

Looks like it will need a saw, or grinder to cut into the brass nut. Then get a flat screwdriver, or chisel in amd split in two. After that, it will tap out from the bottom.
Replace with the same.

Yeah thought that might be the case.

Will try and find an identical waste fitting.

Thanks

Strainer works but you need an exceptionally long bolt that normally has to be bought seperately

Hacksaw, large preferably and just cut dead centre on waste whole way up and through the nut and it will split off. Very quick way to remove the waste if you are replacing whole thing.
Seal new waste well at bottom, including threads if sink is overflow type and waste is slotted.
