can i connect the new boiler with the old flues?

dear all,

i am going to replace an old keston boiler, it has twin flues, everything is easy but the flues is a pain, the aparment is 15m high and i have to hire scaffolding if i have to replace the flues, is it possible i can connect the new boiler with the old twin flues inside the apartment? if possilbe which boiler is the best option?

its a no no, the existing flue will be designed for a standard efficieny boiler, not for a high efficieny boiler.

the answer might be yes, but no you cant, you have to guarantee that the appliance will last its whole life time and work safely with that flue if you use an old flue apart from the fact there may have been a tiny change your unaware of you will forever be liable for any problems whereas if you buy them together you pass that worry onto the manu

Plus you'd have to be GSR to do the job and I take it that you aren't.

you need to get someone to look at the job and give specific advise,
you say the current boiler is condensing, why does it need changing?

Very much no.

Kestons use glued waste pipe don't they for flue/air duct. Have ripped a few out. A 15m run of flue is going to be quite expensive.

You should not take chance with the old flue. Are you even sure it is the correct material. It must be muPVC and not standard PVC like what was used in a lot of these.

The Keston flues were 2" MuPVC. Don't think anyone else uses that for flues.
Flues can be done from inside without scaffolding. Read the MI's of your boiler of choice.

its abs that cant be used if it the access to the outside thats difficult i would renew all the internal pipe and reconnect to the through the wall sections after inspecting its fit for use

the answer is a resounding NO, for 2 reasons that i would expect you to know if you are gas registered and contemplating doing the job
