A while ago the inlet valve on the larger of 2 tanks in the loft seized up, this resulted in it emptying, (I noticed it only when there was no hot water). Recently I have has what I think is far more gurgling when the boiler is on, and sometimes you can hear water running into it when it has been idle for a while. No it;s no a combi (I expect some of you had guessed that). Would there be an air bleed valve anywhere by the hot water water tank that I would need to bleed, if only periodically and not because of the empty header tank? Thx.

The larger header tank should not affect the boiler. did you check the small header at the same time?

Hi, thanks for replying, no I didn't check the small one but I can see it has it's own feed, and it was just the valve on the large tank. Can I assume then, that there wouldn't be air in the system from that? Though it certainly sounds like there is air in the boiler, with quite a bit of popping when running and gurgling afterwards?

check the water level in the other tank.

they are seperate systems.

get the boiler/system serviced if its not been done in the last 12 months.
