I want to put the receiver for my new RF room stat in the airing cupboard. Ineed to wire the switching wires for receiver into the connection that comes from the programmer's ch on wire and white wire to 3 port valve. The programmer is downstairs in lounge. The only permanent live supply in cupboard is the switch for immersion element. Can I take a feed from this to run the receiver?

The only other way I could do it is have the receiver on lounge wall next to programmer. However, it's untidy with the programmer already on the wall, without adding the receiver too. Then there will also be the stat nearby too. This isn't my preferred option as will be cluttered. However, is this option permissable?

No room stat is fitted at present. Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks for your reply, but the programmer is only 6 months old and I already have the new room stat (Drayton Mistat).

Would rather try and work with what I've got.

NO, not a good idea at all.

Think about it:
Usually you have a dedicated 2.5mm cable run from your consumer board (protected by 16A braker).
If you hook up a smaller cable without a fuse (as you are saying) - under a false conditions, your smaller cable will go up in smoke. That's beside the point though, cos your immersion heater should be on a dedicated run.

Get a sparky in to sort it out.

no you cant do it. you want to make sure that the isolation point of the heating system isolates all of the components of the said system. either put it next to the clock or run new cable.

Thanks to all for your advice. Much appreciated.

Looking again at the situation, I think I can run a wire unobtrusively from the prog. and mount the receiver in lounge, but hidden from view.

:iagree: Only way to go. I've had 1st hand experience of two
feeds to a system.

Shocking!
