can you work for a company carrying out domestic gas work if you are qualified training wise but are not gas safe approved. but the company is?

Re: can you work for a company if you are qualified for domestic gas but are not gas

you can work for the company if they register you under the company registration number if they do not do this then you cannot work for them legally

Re: can you work for a company if you are qualified for domestic gas but are not gas

but if i was personally registered with gas safe there would be no issue and they wouldnt have to register me?

then you would be working as a gas subbie, under your reg number, under your public liability insurance, and under your risk, yes you are right no issue (for the company and all on your shoulders) why would you want to even consider this for a second, if they want you to do gas work to make them more profit let them spend the £63 to add you to their register, its a no brainer

Re: can you work for a company if you are qualified for domestic gas but are not gas

They would still have to register you under their gas safe. If you work for them under your own gas safe then you would be sub contracting and technically would be self employed. Any decent company will register you under their own gas safe as soon as you start working for them

Re: can you work for a company if you are qualified for domestic gas but are not gas

if you are registered under your own registration then you would be classed as either an agency worker or self employed carrying out work for the company

Re: can you work for a company if you are qualified for domestic gas but are not gas

thats what i thought shows how unscrupulous some companies are doesnt it, small time cowboy

Re: can you work for a company if you are qualified for domestic gas but are not gas

If someone is wanted you to work "direct" for them but use your own gas safe I would tell them to shove it up their hoop and run a mile

Re: can you work for a company if you are qualified for domestic gas but are not gas

all the jobs at the job centre are temporary contracts for gas engineers whom "must have own van, must have Public Liability, must have Gas Safe" what's the differnce in doing it under your gas safe and theirs if you don't mind me askin...

the jobs you see advertised are for sub contractors, no prob in that, what the OP is talking about is him working as direct labour but using his own GSR and therefore taking all the risk, for employee T&C's

I guess it boils down to how much you need the work. Not for me though.
