Hello,
I wonder if anyone could help me? We have a Cannon C60GPX gas cooker. Anyway, tonight my wife said that she had turned it on and the low flame from the burner had stayed on for about 10 mins without it firing up to the full flame. I turned it off and had a look. There are 2 thermocouples (well they look like them to me). The one on the left of the burner array which has got a thin tip on it, which was securely fixed and the tip looked well positioned inside where the flames would be. Also, there was one on the right of the burner array, which had a wider, flatter tip on it. This was held very loosely in place by a clamping clip. It looked to me like it had been knocked out of position (and sitting well out of the flame) but I was actually unable to tell what position this "thermocouple" should have sat in originally. I took a chance and repositioned it so that the tip was close to where the flame would be and tried to start the cooker again. Within a few seconds, the flame had flared up properly. Job done - I thought. However, I think that during cooking - over the next half hour (at GM5) the flame never died down at all. I seem to remember this happening normally, as the cooker reaches temp.
Please can someone tell me what this 2nd thermocouple does and how should the tip be positioned? I suspect it is used as a general temp sensor - but I'm not sure. I tried to find a service manual or images on the internet but no luck.
Help would be great.
Thanks
