Cant find my regs book

A neighbour has been round they had there bathroom done about ten months ago I sorted the bath taps as the installer had used flexi's and there was very poor flow. Kinks everywhere, anyway saying the WC smells been round had a look, but no vent or aav in sight or manhole surely this is wrong.

Now my thoughts are could this smell be as a result of a newer wc being fitted with a smaller volume of water being available? But they didnt get rid of a vent pipe or aav

Is the water level in pan low? In my house we have no vent or AAV and it started pulling the trap out leading to smells. It turned out to be a blockage near our septic tank causing a lack of space for air to vent from our neighbours vents or the septic tank. Cleared the blockage and all is fine again.
Psh, i never seem to have time or money to sort my own house out;(
