Hi guys, I have a Worcester 42cdi at home. As its the Xmas holidays I thought I'd use my spare time to give it a service. The trouble the boiler is upstairs in my house and when I put the boiler in chimney sweep mode and run the hot tap by the time I get outside to the gas meter the boilers not staying on max rate at is shutting down. I've tried it a couple of times and the last time I tried it it started to boil he water in the radiators! Has anyone else had problems with this?

:santa1:pop out the diverter valve motor so it will then be in mid then you shold have enough time as primary water will go to your plate to plate and heating and will stay on longer then pop motor back in when finished

Do exactly this, ensure all rads are stone cold before start, don't do this without div valve in mid pos as you are trying to stick 42kW down 22 mm pipe!

On the juniors the service mode puts the diverted into mid position. I tried this on a 30cdi and had to pop the motorised valve off as said above, i thought it was a fault does the chimney sweep mode not do this as the juniors does then? If not, any ideas why?

As far as I was aware the "older" cdi PCb didn't have it programmed into it

Aye the new ones do, caught me out a few times when servicing them

Yep marketing, early CDI's used the chimney sweep and this was advertised as a heating boost button for 15 mins full power, later dropped on all litriture.....so never drove to mid pos to give full power to rads

When did it change? Last one I looked at was fitted in 2009 if I remember

Is It easy to take the motor out then?
Drop the front panel, on the right hand side you see a green rubber cover, remove this divertor is underneath. Put finger behind divertor motor and push forward, it should just pop out. Just remember to put it back
