Does anyone use these machines? I'm looking at getting one potentially and just after advice. Pro's and con's

Hi there,

I have been using a card reader from payleven. It is portable and robust that works through your mobile phone. Personally found it great, a very easy method of being able to allow my customers to take card especially as I can take it on the job instead of waiting around for payment after. I got mine for £58.99 in Plumbfix with a 2.75% per a transaction. They have a customer service that I rang up before buying the device just to ask a few questions and found very helpful and friendly.

I've recommended it all ready to a few of my mates and would to you to!

Have you ever had any problems with it cutting out? Say for example I take I payment and it cuts off mid way, leaving me to not realise i've not been paid until I get back home?

Does anyone use the cardsave machine?
Any good, what sort of costs etc. Many thanks

Yeah I. Do its 25 pound a month. 20p per direct debit and 1.5 percent for credit card. 30 p if cardholder not present. They bill you ever 4 months

never really been tempted.
paying someone so you can be paid doesnt sit well with me. i suppose some customers may expect it, some may appreciate it and it looks professional i guess but id sooner take cash/cheque or transfer any day

yeh buddie colin use to do it but i have said i will also look after it

3%ish of my turnover is a hell of a slice out of my profit. Only ever had 2 customers ask to pay by card. All are happy to pay by internet banking when I tell them I would have to mark up my charges by 5-10% to cover card fees and risk of fraudulent card use etc..
