Hey guys,

Really need some advice from some experienced heads. Originally got a new acrylic bath from Homebase, first one was damaged, got a replacement and the second came damaged. In addition to the damage on the first one, I noticed the waster hole was pretty uneven, causing the trap to sit funny.

Decided to get a full refund and instead spent the extra money and got a Carron Carronite bath from a local merchants. First one arrived and was scratched, so had to return it. Second one has arrived... no damage at all which was great.

However, the waste hole us again uneven. Been told I could sand it down, but it shouldn't cause sealing issues anyway. I've tried 'dry' fitting the waste without altering the bath, but am a bit concerned and how 'out' it is. Tried two different wastes, loosely tightening the second, but you can see the difference.

At the moment, I don't know if I'm being over-cautious and if most Carronite baths will be like this, or whether I should insist this is not right and request another replacement.

Ask your fitter to sort it, they can see when they can see the issue, we cant see it to comment

Unfortunately can't post any pics from my PC, as having the same problem as others "only allowing me to post from a URL".

What the pictures show is one waste fighting tightened up, and thus leaning slightly.

The other waste I have not fully tightened, so sat it level. The washer between the bath and the waste touches the bath on one side, and there's a 4mm gap on the other side.

Cheers

Use a proper stainless and brass waste not plastic and monkey metal chuck the washer and use silicone or fernox plumber. Jobs a good un tell yer mum.

4mm is a massive gap on any waste, cant you post a url pic cos that aint right.

Sorry mate, tried everything to get pics on. Basically tried a standard screwfix bath pop up waste and also a McAlpine top access waste... If I don't screw them tight and pull them straight/level, that's when I get the gap, bout 3/4mm... If I screw them tight, they start tilting on the p**s.... Just doesn't look right, never had this problem before, but then never fitted a bath 12mm thick to be fair.
