Hi guys got problem, original cast iron soil stack collar joint is split.
pipe appears not to be 4inches round but smaller 3 1/2 inch maybe??
When grinding the cast iron would the weight of the rest of the pipe come down??
and what fittings would best to use?? Thanks

if it is 3 1/2" L.C.C you can get a 3 1/2 x 4" stepped Timesaver coupling then use 100mm (4") pipe.
As far as the rest of the pipe coming down, well I normally use 2 or 3 "sky hooks" to secure the top half then cut. LOL Can't tell with out a look-see how much above & how well is it fixed????

Thanks, the fitting is sorted, rest is tomorrow! Ta mate them sky hooks seem good!!!!!!

Thes fancy new metric ones aren't too bad , but the old imperial ones were the B*llocks.
You only had to shout Sky hook to the lad and he was in like a shot with them.
Made a change for him looking for a long weight.

so, what are these sky hooks you are talking about and where can i get them? They sound like a piece of kit every plumber should have

They are in the builders merchants always next to the :- long weights, glass nails, left handed screw drivers, bubbles for your spirit level, skirting ladders, .......................come on what else have I forgot ??

Is it just me or has this guy just fallen for the apprentice tricks?? XD

fallen deep into mate. I have been looking for some bubbles for my spirit level for ages!!!!!!

Hunting for Haggis Animals, gets the Yankie tourists everytime!

Or ask for a fork 'n' knife very quickly and loudly next time you're in a posh restaurant! "Waiter, can I please have a fork 'n' knife".

Glass nails.
That was the second one I remembered snow, I suppose they would be in the box next to the rubber nails. So apart from the following what else has not been mentioned ????
sky hooks, long weights or stands (to those in the know, two completely different pieces of kit), glass & rubber nails (don't mix 'em up), left handed screw drivers (only to be used by left handed plumbers), bubbles for your spirit level (to replace the one that fell out when you used your level upside down), skirting ladders (to reach them hard to get to places), stripped & tartan paint (different tins of course).
There must be more how are these young guys going to be able to work if they don't know the full range of tools & fixings.

Skirting ladders lol! :bucktooth:

When at college we had a sweetshop/sandwhich shop opposite and a lad was sent in to ask the lady for a quarter of fallopian tubes.

He came out red faced shouting "you ............'s" :censored: :44:
