Hi all

Im wondering what the main difference between cast iron and steel boilers are? I guess price will be one of the major ones. Does either one become less efficient quicker than the other?
thanks

you have lost me mate if your talking about gas boilers heat exchangers are either stainless steel or aluminium silicate

I cant think of a current domestic gas boiler on the market that uses a cast Iron Heat ex, can anybody else?.

oil boilers have a cast boiler and a stainless steel condensate heat exchanger

True that Eco, but thats why they tend to sit on the floor.

Cast weighs a bloody ton, and I don't fancy breaking my back lifting it...gladly you won't find it in a modern gas boiler.

Yes some of the cast wall mounted gas boilers of the 70's and 80's was a nightmare to lift up on my own, but you had to do it

I helped strip down a big old oil boiler in a school when I just started in my first year 16, was covered head to toe in sludge, about 8 heat exchangers all weighing a ton was heavy stuff nearlly took another guys toe off

no, im taking about oil boilers, like the difference between a clyde ckrs 110kw ( cast iron) and clyde unical trio 110kw (steel) whats the pros and cons of choosing each one?
