hi there all i have a main combi oco range boiler, when i whent to top up the pressure using the filling loop the stop tap on the central heating side is leaking when opened, obviously a new stop tap is required.Could any one please tell me what this involves to change it.I am reasonably competant enough to change but would appreciate any info regarding isolation + re filling of system thanks.Best reg trev:smiley2:

Drain it down from a point below this, have the replacement ready. Change the part, refill system as before and check for leaks.

A picture would be good

Open up the drain off valve situated outside at the bottom of the wall or inside if you know where it is, this will drop the pressure without draining the whole system, you will then be able to disconnect valve, have a container there just in case a dribble comes out, install new valve. Close the drain off valve, connect filling loop back up. Fill up system and check for air in system. Job done

thanks alot for reply really appreciate info cant see a problem thanks. All the best Trev.

hi once again thanks for your reply, hope you can help once more. Before i remove isolation valve on return line i have noticed that the flow diretion arrow on valve is pointing towards the flexible pipe
(or the double lock valve). As this was fitted by the plumber who installed boiler i can only assume this is correct allthough commensense tells me it should be other way, could you please confirm for me which is correct thanks alot.Best reg Trev

arrow fm mains to boiler return ie direction of fill is correct way so its wrong!

hi thanks for response thought it was fitted the wrong way round, is it possible that this is what caused it to leak from around the valve stem when opened (valve only been used about 6 times). Very useful this site to people like me with a bit of knowledge but not to much, once again thanks.Best reg Trev
