Hi all i was hoping someone here might be able to help me
my central heating does not come on unless the hot water is calling for heat .as soon as the hot water has reached the right temperature in the cylinder the heating turns off.The two port valves are working fine, the boiler gets everything hot
radiators are hot then it just turns off.The only way to get the heating back on is to turn on a hot tap until boiler comes on then the heating works again until the hot water cylinder reaches temperature then off it all goes.Would welcome any advice thanks in advance
.Dave

If it was the motor then the heating wouldn't work at all.
More likely the microswitch if the valve opens on demand.

Yes it would. The motor hasn't got the oomph to hit the switch. So it goes half way and works, when the hw,s not on it doesn't hit the end switch so doesn't work.

thanks for the replies i have 2 valves on my heating and both seem to operate fine you can feel the resistance on the manual switch when you turn each off and on. Also heating only works when hot water is on not off. thanks in advance for any help people

Probably simplest route would be to replace the head on the central heating valve

Hi Dave I think it is a wiring problem. Sounds like the motor valve is opening but no power is Being supplied to the boiler.

as mentioned before, micro switch issue just replace the ch motor head. not lkely to be a wiring issue if it all worked ok previously

Probably the best course of action.

Ok good i will do as suggested and replace head it has a dimple so simple exchange ,and thank you both monntain man and Ermintrude lol for your expertise and for taking the time to help. Will keep you posted on result
