DIY Idiot

Hi everyone.

My over flow has been leaking for weeks so I decided to have a go in changing the ballcock, simple enough(it wasn't leaking by the way) but as I had a new one and it was £10 I decided to change it anyway.

But what is the pipe other than the ballcock that fills this tank?? Whilst I was changing BC the heating came on and this pipe started pouring warm/hot water into the expansion tank? What ever it is I believe this to be the cause of my over flow outside leaking as the overflow tank is being filled.

feed and expansion pipe, a safety device thats working ok. However it shouldnt flow all the time the heating is on, it wont fill the tank perse as its only using the water in the system but it needs a professional to look at it and why its flowing all the time

Hi DIY idiot, is it a little tank 18l or a large 25-50 gallon tank your working on, if it was pouring out when gthe heating came on then id imagine its your FnE tank that fills your heating and it sounds like its pumping over , this could be a number of faults all certainly beyond the skill of a diyer , please dont take offence but defo get an engineer out to have a look and rectify, good luck,
