Central heating problem

We have a large house and need to cut our central heating which is via a relatively new boiler. The thermostat is in a large hall. We set the temperature at 21°. We have thermostatic valves on all radiators. However, our estimated costs this year for combined gas and electric will be £5000. We have turned off all radiators in rooms we do not use. We have checked for draughts as well. But this does not appear to reduce costs. Any ideas please.

Tbh depending on how big your house is sounds about right if it’s round about 6-8 bedrooms

If you really want to get to the bottom of this, have a proper heat loss survey of the property undertaken.

As a minimum, that will give you a fairly clear indications of the areas to focus on improving.

It may well be that the required improvements are not economically viable.

As above. Survey by a heating engineer should tell you a lot. You may have to pay for it but it is worth it in a lot of cases.
It sounds to me like you would benefit from separating into zones and adding weather comp controls (real ones, not internet).
