Hi, this may sound a daft question too most, but I need to know the answer.
If you take the middle screw out on any pump, when the central heating is off, will water just keep coming out intill the system is drained?
Also if the system is on and you made a mistake of slackening this screw too much, and it fell out, would water be pumped out the middle of the pump?
Thanks

If you left it out it would drain down to that level. If you take it when the pumps running you still get water but it's not massive amounts.

If water shoots out the bearings have gone, was you looking for a fault on the pump or heating ?

Yes it would drain but would take long time to drain , and if you take the whole screw out most cases it trickles so don't be worried about taking the bleed screw out, try it on the pump in your own home to gain a little experience , when u take the screw out totally you can gently ( trying not to be rough or damage anything ) feel the spindle turning ,

That's the fun part trying to get the screw back in with water peeing out while trying to stop it ****ing through the ceiling as you get burnt by 70 degree water.
Just like taking the pins out of rad bleeds, I know I'm asking for trouble when I do it.

Thanks as always guys.
I am tryin to do friends and family small faults at mo to gain some confidence.
I think the pump is faulty,on me mates.
So if the heating has been on and I take the screw out fully, will the hot water have enough pressure to fire at me?:sorcerer:

Always have a towel ready. It will normally only dribble out but if it seems like it's got pressure behind it when you turn it I normally drain down and spin manually.

Hi I am off in morin, and goin too my mates.
Anyone?

When I arrive the heating, will be on.
Will the water fire at me, when I fully take out the middle screw on the pump, to test the spindle of the pump?

Not much of a mate to expect you to work on a hot heating system imo.

If rads hot upstairs and cold down generally pump gone if no zone valves
If zone salves check that first

Possibly an air lock caused by an unbalanced system? But if all downstairs not working then that's not likely.... Have you turned all rads off upstairs first?

Thanks all pump knackered.
Got another question now, on a new thread.
I know what you thinkin, lol:tounge_smile:
