Hi all,

does anyone know if you can scrap pumps? Ive a load of old ones ive replaced and thought I might try and get something for them.

Yes. You will get something for them. Guess they are classed as electric motors. I just put them in with mixed metals (with rads, boilers etc) I know one guy, who has plenty of time on his hands & he had some way of splitting the motor part to get the copper out. Scrap values are so low now.

I just take out the studs, remove the base and chuck the heads in a bucket. I just used to chuck them in with the heavy at 10 pence a kilo. Not any more, same with burner motors.

cheers for your replies. not done a scrap run in a while what is a rough price on clean tube, brass and brazing at the mo?

Also got a few vaillant main and plate heat exchangers so fingers crossed ill get something.

All I know recently the price here for brazery copper was about £3.15 a kilo
& copper cylinders a bit less at £2.75 a kilo
Brass £2 a kilo
You might do better if you shop around
