I have never heard any of you lot talk about this but I think that it could be of a help to make more money for some of you

Central vacuum cleaners, need somebody to fit the 50mm plastic pipe from the wall outlets to the central machine, and its a plumbers job if anybodies

Just a thought that it could help you bring in some more money

no call for that here in blighty ploussane,
done a handfull myself in mallorca,
could design it for you if you'd like, instalation could be interesting if its in france, you'd have to sort out me black paperwork!!

good luck
shaun

Sorry Shaun, they are almost 2 a penny in France, just thought that it could be another string to the bow so as to speak for those in the UK

i thought it might be like that!

to get anything like that off the ground here, would cost a fortune in advertising, and the houses here, just are not designed to have an extra room for another "plant room"
the types of pipe involved (similar to pools) is all imported and nastily expensive!

Shaun everything apart from the wall outlets was normal 50mm waste pipe in pvc and the cleaner was a wall hung machine in the garage

now thats different! our sytems were pressurized pvc 'c' grade. all fittings were swept, no 90's allowed, the actual vacum machine was 1 metre cubed in size ish. the filters and collection bags were at least another cube metre. the maids were not allowed to change either bags or filtration system, had to be done by maintenance blokes.
sounds like things have changed since i left 6 years ago.

I've had one at home for about 8 years, best money I've ever spent on a vacuum. Its a "Centravac", I think part of Electrolux. The power units about the size of a large pedal bin and i've got it in the loft, with one pipe running down through the centre of the house (through a bedroom cupboard and then through a small duct in the corner of the dining room). With a 30 foot hose I can reach everywhere with one outlet on each floor. The pipework is bigger than 40mm but not as big as 50mm and was a doddle to install. Considering that most people buy a new hoover every couple of years I reckon its cheaper in the long run to put a central system in.

I've been reading this purely out of interest and I have no intention of installing one or repairing one. Also a friend of mine has one.

But how on earth do you clear the pipes if they get blocked up with dog hair?

The answer lies in the installation, no burr's on the pipe, no splay cut ends to the pipe etc, 45° sweep "Tee's", long radius bends or two 45° bends, all good plumbing practice

But having said this, if the pipe is blocked, a good "sani-snake" with a ferret on the end should be able to deal with dog hair etc
