change 3 port valve

I have to change the Honeywell 3 port valve. All trade stores are closed over the weekend. I can obtain a Drayton Ma1 Saturday. Is the wiring for the honeywell the same as the Drayton/

The wireing is standard for all three ports I belive! but if you get a honeywell you can change just the head, but if you get a different make you will require a drain down as well. have you tryed screwfix!! I think they stock honeywell.

they have standard 5 colour wires. what makes you confident that the valve is the problem?

HW only - no Heating. No response on Auto or Manual, lever floppy\

Get your self to screwfix and get a honeywell one and change the whole valve

can you push the lever over and lock it in place to manually open the three way to heating

Toolstation do a replacement actuator head that fits the honeywell for about £30, not as good quality as a proper honeywell one though.

I may be wrong but i dont think all the honeywells have replaceable heads. If its replaceable it will have a raised round dimple on the top of the head. Also before you change the head make sure the flat pin on the valve body moves freely. Also you said the lever was 'floppy'. Is this when the powers off? If the hot water is on this is normal

also lock the lever over to heating before removing the head then the body pin will be in the right position for refitting the new head not forgetting to lock the lever over on the new head.

I cant get out at present to get to screwfix but I can obtain a honeywell 40004805-001 sundial y plan - can I use this.

If you are getting HW only and the lever is floppy the this points to jammed head.

The valve has closed but the motor/gear is seized.

On hot water only there is no power to the motor and the latching lever would have
a lot of resistance when pushed over.

If the silver box on the valve has a raised dimple on it then cut all electric power to the system
and remove cover. You can now get to the two screws securing the head to the valve. Undo
these screws and remove head.

The head may now reset itself, if it does check that the vale spindle can be moved reasonably
easy and replace head and test.

It could be that the valve and or head is knackered in which case one or the other or both will
need to be replaced. The honeywell 40004805-001 that you have should do the job.
