Hi all,

Im training at the momment, but I have lots of friends and family that want their bathrooms refitted. I can do work in either Oxford or Bournemouth. What should I be charging per hour and how much should I charge (if its a one off charge) for a bathroom refit?

Any help would be great.

thanks

Mike

Its hard to say really some plumbers charge excess of £60 an hour but they are qualified and experieced

What training are you doing and what training do you have?

Are you confident to do the work unassisted?

Will you be involving 'Mates Rates'?

for a bathroom refit?

How long is a piece of string? What suite, tiling and taps are you going to fit? Coverage of flooring and tiling? If a customer (who is on a budget) points out a shower from a catalogue, which you know is £800 inform them how much that costs. If you put a quote together with that shower and asked for several expensive things (another example steel baths, massive difference in price and basically look the same) , and then they faint at your quote, it would have been better to tell them price of the parts beforehand, otherwise they think you're ripping them off. I think it's best to go through each part stating the price.

Don't overcharge. And don't try to flog off cheap suite, taps and tiling for high price. Give them options, do they want acrylic or steel bath? etc. Give them pros and cons of each thing ie steel bath more stronger, longer lasting, acylic is wamer etc.

Don't either put in really cheap or expensive suite unless they ask you.

Not a plumber but coming from customer point of view.

it can be hard working for family and friends
What I used to do when i was younger,is tell them to get three quotes and I would match the middle one
