Job 3
To reposition a radiator within the same room will require the furniture to be moved, then the carpet and boards can be taken up and everything replaced. This can take 2 men one and a half days plus materials………£400.00

sweet life of cody if that was me.lol.

take 2 men 1 and a half days to move a radiator in a room ?? that'll be shining bright

And £1100 to do a straight changeover bathroom installation! Wish I got that.

I normally hate those sort of sights but I think this one is more realistic than most. It does mention unforeseen bits and bobs and I disagree with some of the pricing.

I had to quote for a bathroom the other day, supply and fit etc. Job included ripping off all the old tiles which were floor to ceiling and rip up floor tiles, re-new bathroom suite, new thermostatic shower replace existing rad fit new one and trv, ihibitor etc.

Having flicked through the prices she's got a bargain. I think I'm still expensive though, some cowboy will do it for less with no insurance etc. Thats life though.

I agree 1½ days is lengthy but it takes two to move and hang a large radiator.

Wish I could come across a straight swap bathroom. All the ones I come across are a swap and then a few "could you just ...?" type of jobs (e.g. box in the pipework, re-tile a small section, etc).

I agree totally there are some things in it which are more relastic than others! Like over 1000 for a bathroom suite installation.lol Really dont know where they get these figures from i know plumbers now that would be happy to do a stright swap bathroom suite installation for a couple of hundred pound!!!!!!

Tradesmen's rates are a bit of a guesstimate on there too. According to them as I stay in Clackmannanshire I should be charging a maximum of £175 per day. Most guys I know charge £25 to £30 per hour for a 8 hour day and a £50 minimum call out charge.
I don't base my quotes on a daily rate anyway. I use another formula that has done me ok for a long time.

care to share this formula?

It's all relative to each job isnt it. A good friend of mine who works for a mechanical firm are fitting out a mansion with a years work 250,000 worth plumbing and CH. The rad valves they are using are £75 EACH alone............... and they are pants! Always leak and do not work. So prices just depend SO SO much on each job, there is no such thing as a standard rad swap or a standard job for that matter.

I very really use a day rate to work out prices for bigger jobs and tend to leave my hourly rate after 5 or 6 hours

I use a speed rate as I can work faster than many ,that is my advantage not the customers

Also different jobs have a certain market value, increasing as the skill/difficulty level increases

imho

You never with customers anyway. You can do 2 identical jobs, one customer will say 'oh, thats very reasonable' the other 'HOW MUCH!'

You quote for a job, the customer says 'someone has already said it'll be £***'

I always ask has he been round to have a look, the answer a lot of the time is 'no'
Well, let him do it for that then.

Or, I've had a look on a site on the internet and they say it should cost £xx, have they seen this job! no......

I need my holiday.

Super Plumb, thought that was my title (and avatar) LOL Bet you can't bash your Kryptonite as quickly as I can bash lead!

"To change one leaking radiator for a same sized one (with a TRV), in the same position. This will take one man one leisurely day"

i work far too hard
