Check valve faulty?

I installed a mixer tap in the kitchen about 6 months ago and fitted new check valves to both the mains cold water supply and the hot supply to the tap😡. All OK.

When I came home tonight, as the mains cold water supply is gradually increased the flow suddenly shuts off with a jolt.

I assume the check valve is doing this? Does this mean its developed a fault?
Can they be fixed or do I get another one?

Mains flow to other taps e.g. outside tap is unaffected.

does it happen on both sides, ie hot and cold?

Check valves are usually replaced rather than repaired

Same happened with me with a basin mixer. Turned out to be the tap...B&Q rubbish. Changed tap, all ok
