Check valves on incoming mains supplys

It’s been a long time since I did a wras course.
Should you fit a check valve to a mains supply after the stop tap or is it a recommendation?
Does this apply to new supply’s, alterations or all?

I am quoting to replace this lot

yep 22is down to around 14mm
