Choice of heat only boilers

Hi guys,

Need to install a new heat only boiler for an f&e system with a currently condemned potterton kingfisher.

It's a five bedroom house with two bathrooms and a hot water tank in the kitchen next to the boiler and gas meter. What boiler would you suggest? I normally like ideals but I've only so far installed combis as I've only been qualified a year so any advice appreciated. Cheers.

I would say stick to what you are familiar with
As above logic plus heat only or the max version for 10 years warranty

The ideal heat only boiler is a cracking little unit. Fitted a few and customers been very happy with them.
If the customer is happy then so am i

Bear in mind, that whatever boiler you end up putting in, most need a pump over run( the boiler controls the pump, not the wiring centre) so you will need to run a wire from boiler to wherever the pump is located ( could be in an airing cupboard) and some distance away.

HE logics are a load better than the combis but the Viessmann compact is unbeatable in IMO .
No pump over run required

I have to say intergas heat only, very straight forward to fit and commission, small and compact. Serviced a few and feedback is excellent from customers. I’m not keen on combi or system as the fixing plate with vessel doesn’t look or ease of installation not engineer friendly.

If the boilers in the kitchen I would put a combi in hook it up to the c/ h system as you will anyway and have instant hot water in the kitchen where its most needed without having to heat up a whole cylinder

I wouldn't fit a combi in a 5 bed property.

Installing a heat-only should be more straightforward than a combi, specially if the rest of the system is to be left as is. The kingfisher appears to be quite old, so maybe the cold feed is piped to the boiler return. If so it might be worth taking the opportunity to repipe it boiler - open vent - cold feed - pump - heating load.
