We have an elderly worcester bosch heatslave C/H boiler running on LPG. For several weeks we have been bedevilled by the failure of the pilot light. When dismantling the front covers for the nth time I noticed a very strong draught of air coming in through the balanced flue. I think this may be the cause and the draught is extinguishing the pilot light. The weather today here is windless and the boiler itself was stone cold as the pilot light went out about 12 hrs previously. I have been toying with the idea of fitting some sort of baffles around the external "cage" which is fitted directly behind the boiler about 1 metre above ground level. Can anyone suggest a cause (fault in balanced flue?) and a possible remedy please? All conributions gratefully accepted! Thanx!

i would say no due possibility of altering airflow in and out of flue and as such constitute altering a flue from mi...big no no

Assuming you are posting as a qualified and Gas Safe Registered technician, contact Technical Support for Worcester Bosch and ask what they suggest. If you are not the above, leave it to someone who is. Modifying flues is potentially very dangerous.

Failure of the pilot light is probably due to a boiler fault.
