I have the above problem after having done all my en suite piping in solvent weld due to the majority of connections being hidden away under tiles - only 1x 40mm T piece in the wall prior to entering the soil stack, converted to 32mm for the sink which is 800mm above it - yet to test before building around.

I have dug out a block wall ready to accept the 32mm solvent pipe but am struggling to find a solution to fit the chrome pipe into the solvent 90 exiting below the sink. The chrome pipe has a reduced end for push fit, and a wide end for the trap - the wide end when inserted is approx 3mm out around the diameter. I am thinking that i could either source one of these McApline chrome 90's with compression and solvent fitting integrated.... or find another solution to seal the pipe closing this 3mm gap with possibly ptfe tape? bit back street but the 90 will sit flush with the tile, so it would make it more serviceable in the future as i won't be able to get to the Mcalpine compression fitting...thoughts?

There's nothing to photo as of yet - only a wall with a channel ready to accept the 32mm pipe which will require a 90 at the top, where it will meet the chrome waste pipe...the 90 will be flush with the tile once i have dot and dabbed new plaster board and tiled....

Previously I've used push fit - so when setting the 90 going into the wall, flush.... you can just push everything into place once tiled (chrome pipe from waste). I wanted to make this more robust, removing the question mark that is the rubber seal which i imagine can and will fail eventually when compared to solvent...

All I`ll say is taking up a 3mm gap with PTFE and hiding a compression joint behind tiles is asking for trouble. Or have I misread the situation?

Not at all - those are my only 2 options at this point - I feel the best route is the solvent 90 exiting the wall. I just need to some how get a seal around the chrome pipe that is entering the solvent 90.

The second option is the McAlpine 90 which has one end that is solvent, the other is a chrome compression - but I'm not sure if it'll be compatible with the floplast pipe i've used and if the chrome compression part will come out of the wall enough to service (as the waste needs to be able to be removed easily as fitting a work top with counter top sink - the counter will needs to be removable for maintaining the built in cistern)

Love McAlpine ... here's the fitting you need:

Thanks Alex, that's the one i linked above. Do these mate to floplast solvent ok?

I also notice they supply a 32mm and 35mm seal ring which is very helpful...

Any solvent weld is good to go.

That's the one I've ordered, cheers Alex! :)

I was worried that once I've boarded the wall and tiled I'd not have enough protrusion to turn the compression end (nothing worse!). I'll have to be a bit creative with my tiling depending on how far it sticks out.
