Hi folks,

I'm having difficulty removing the retaining ring/nut from external base of a toilet's cistern. The chap who fitted it either used some form of adhesive or had forearms like Popeye!!! I have attached an image below, and am wondering whether anybody knows whether B&Q, Homebase, etc, stock a plastic spanner that would engage the thin, vertical strips on the ring/nut.

Thanks

I'm with Sonray - I've got a plastic spanner thingy that came with a Variflush drop valve. Have you tried a strap wrench? (Boa or similar)
. It's about the only thing that are useful for :D
