I start on the 15th of September C&G Level 2 and I'm a little nervous too.
I've got the JTL/Heinemann book to keep me company on those cold lonely nights.

hi tim are you in plumbing employment?? as i start college next week and have only been able to sart on the level 1 course because all the tutors said to do the 6129 you have to be in employment, im 27 aswell so am i missing something??

No, I'm currently and have been for the last 15 yrs a self-employed landscaper. I'm 32 yrs old and I've just enrolled on the level 2 C&G. I don't think the college I'm going to actually does a level 1.

Regards
T.

Good luck mate, my only advice is ask lots of questions, even if you think its daft ask it anyway, someone else will be thinking the same as you.

If your not sure about what your being told ask, when doing practical I'd ask the same question again from a different instructor. Not to check the information your being given but to get a different option, a different way to do something.

Read most of the posts on here, this website is a prime example of having one problem and perhaps 3/4 solutions to solve it, with no answer being wrong.

You don't have to be in employment to do the C&G 6129 level 2. Thats what many colleges and training providers offer to their students, most of whom are new to plumbing and are not yet employed in the industry.

If you want to go on to do the NVQ, you will need to be in employment to get your work appraised for 'on the job' assessments.

in the precent economic climate when there are very few jobs for plumbers who are fully trained and experienced where are you going to get a job .i would love to know how many of you go on to get your nvq,i have been a self employed plumber for 40 years ,i get at least 5 calls a day from fast track plumbers looking for jobs.but the realy keen ones will keep going besides the odds and will make it through to better economic times. my worry is we are part training lots of people who do not have the experience to call them selves competant plumbers, this results in poor plumbing inflicted on the public, and this does reflect on us all

hi woodbine i myself knew that already, thats what i cant work it, out by the sound of things it is something the college has decided to do rather than it be a goverment thing. when i start next week i will find out more info and let people know.

I'm starting C&G 6129 level 2. But havn't got any books yet!!! Anyone tell me what are the best books out there to get for help?

hi, the jtl books are great, if you go onto ebay and type in plumbing books you will get a load of books specifacally for the level 2 course

I did a level 2 course last year aged 40 and was not working at the time.

Learnt a hell of a lot & it was great fun so don't feel nervous about it. You will find everyone is probably feeling the same.

I came away with some good friends and we help each other with jobs on occasion.

On my course they provided me with a JTL so hold fire on buying one right now. I was also given other media on the course and the tutors suggest material which will be of use to you.

Good luck and enjoy.
