Hi all,
I'm hopefully starting a college course in September and have been asked to do an assignment as part of the interview. As I am going to college straight from school I have no experience in plumbing whatsoever. Any help or pointers would be very much appreciated.
The assignment is as follows,
Exercise
Friends of your family have asked you to a small plumbing job for them that involves the fitting of an outside garden tap. They are keen that you treat the whole job in a professional manner and calculate and quote the price, as a professional plumber would do.
The outside tap is to be fitted immediately through the wall from the kitchen sink and connected to the cold water supply in a 15mm copper tube. The special tap and all other fittings that you need can be found in most DIY stores and local suppliers.
You will need to :-
List the materials and fittings that you will need
Produce a neat sketch of the finished system
Write a numbered step by step list of how you would complete the task
Include what tools you would use
The family friends have asked you to write a letter :-
Detailing the date and time you intend to do the work
How long it will take
How the work will affect them
How much it will cost them. The total amount should include the cost of materials and fitting plus an additional 25% for travelling, tools wear and tear and your profit.
Well that's the assignment, I know it's abit cheeky asking here but as I stated I am totally new to plumbing and have chosen it as a career choice due to the lack of trademen in the UK. Once again thankyou in advance for any help or advice/pointers given they are appreciated.
