Hey can most combi boilers be installed in zone 2 of a bathroom i.e within 0.6 meters of a bath or shower?

Yes, nearly all have the correct IP rating these days, don't need to box them in either.

Thanks I was looking at putting an ideal independent in my bathroom but I think these have to be beyond zone two, so over 0.6 meters from the bath. Can you recommend any other decent mid range boilers?

just be prepared to have to replace your pcb every year and all the rusted up components thereafter

Why an Ideal? and as Lame Plumber has said, just because the regs say you can put a boiler in zone 2, doesn't mean you want to, all other 7671 regs still apply, in regards a fixed appliance.

What does the installer recommend? or is this the argument you are having with him?

Thanks so are you saying if you can avoid installing in zone 2, and installing it further than 0.6 from the bath or shower this would be better? Iv heard good reviews about the new ideal boilers however the older range are meant to be terrible. Il be hanging and piping the boiler up myself and getting a gas man in to connect up the gas and install the flue. Am an apprenticed trained plumber but not gas safe.

It would be better, yes, you only install them in zone 2 if absolutely necessary, where have you heard these good reviews?

I don't commission boilers that have been hung by someone else, i don't know anyone else that does either, so you might want to find someone who is going to take the risk getting thrown off the GSR due to someone else's work, before you buy it.

If you are in the trade, then you must know the reason why they get fitted.

Ideal logic really reliable. Few poor ones when they shifted to china for castings... But the carp castings were British ones. The pcb is sealed in the boiler and is air tight. If fitted with ip65 grommets u could dip it in the bath!

a trainee plumbing it up,course it is mr diyer strikes again thread closed
