If possible I would like some advice regarding a fault with a Ferroli Falcon 2 combi boiler I have fitted in my home and would appreciate it if you could help.

The Boiler is not firing up when I either open the hot water tap or turn on the central heating.

With the hot water tap open the boiler will always fire up only when the room sealed cover is released and will work perfectly with this cover removed. As soon as the room sealed cover is refitted the boiler will not fire.

Please could you tell me if this fault may relate to the air pressure switch? The fault finding in the manual seems to point to this, but I am struggling to understand why the boiler only fires up with the room sealed cover removed.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Sounds like it could be a fault in the venturi - Requires replacing or cleaning.

Thanks for the prompt response.

Where would i find the venturi so that i can check it?

Thanks.

go hear and type in your postcode www.User PlumbersForums.net Instead - Copy the content, don't link to it.co.uk

you will find the venturi next to the flux capacitor lol jk

Ok I get the idea....

I have a gas safe installer working on it, but we are trying to work out what may be causing the fault so that he can check it.

lol good try

why not get another engineer who specialises in breakdowns ?

why do they put there homes and lives of themselfs and family at risk for the sake of a few quid , beggers belive

For you information guys I don't mess with the bolier myself. My installer has looked and this and we are both trying to figure out the problem. I do not wish to put myself or others at risk. Its obvious that this is perhaps not the place to get decent advice.

In that case your 'Gas Safe Installer' should know where the venturi is and should be able to diagnose and repair it, if this is indeed the fault.

I agree with what the others have said and would not recommend that you work on your boiler yourself as you could put yourself in a dangerous situation.

this is the best place for advise, but I don't agree giving out advice which can put lifes at risk. If your Engineeer doesnt know what the venturi is then I am very suprised

If your current engineer cant work it out, get someone more competent in.

Trouble is, he does now know what the fault is (accurate diagnosis I'd stake my money on venturi too) so he'll probably have a crack at it.

Which when you consider whats involved getting to them is rather worrying.

I think you have had DECENT advice on here mate.

You didn't say in your starting post that you had your "installer" looking at it, only when you where questioned did you remember this.

Surely if your installer is stumped on this problem then he will be talking to people he know for advice so theres no need for you to worry about it - he will sort it

i dont think squeakyclean quite deserved that reception...so hostile! Should i get my gas safe badge on now before you eat me ?

boiler repairs are a seperate branch of our trade now due to the complexity of modern systems theres lots of installers who dont have the knoledge to repair the items they have installed thats one of the reasons warranties are now longer

Thankyou for your acurate advice. The venturi was faulty. It is great to get advice like this.

thanks
