can i blank off the hot and cold pipes to my combi and use it as a system boiler with an unvented cylinder and a woodburner linked in to the twin coil cylinder

Regarding blanking the pipes: I think somewhere in the regulations it states that you can't do this, but you can get around it by having just one hot tap connected to the boiler.

you can't supply heat to an unvented cylinder from an uncontrollable source such as a log burner.

thanks to Simon G and anz for updating my understanding. if I had said you cant supply such heat directly would that be correct ?

Spot on, things are changing so quickly these days it's difficult to keep up with it :) Although the technology is there i think I would still prefer the thermal store route. :)

sorry my mistake, the cylinder is vented,i just wanted to know if i can connect the flow and return pipes off my combi to one of the coils in a twin coil cylinder
