Hiya all,
Just wanted to check something regarding combi boilers. We haven't yet studied them in depth at college (level 3). Someone confused me lately.
Say I turn the water off at the stopcock (to fix a dripping tap, etc). Can I leave the combi on? Can the heating stay on?
My understanding is the hot water heating won't fire up until it detects flow (which won't happen while the water is off). Meanwhile, the radiator heating side of things can continue as normal.
Thanks for your advice,
Jennie

Sound deduction but don't count on it being so. Better off just switching it off .

you wont tend to study them much in college either, but your right

Yea in theory it should be fine, but I always turn it off just in-case!

its as easy to flick the switch on the boiler, no worries then!!

Tip to avoid issues. If the boiler is a bit of a nail turn off the cold under boiler to keep it full of water as some boilers like ferolli have an awful flow switch

if the boiler is a bit of a nail the last thing i would touch would be the iso valves most of them only work once the day there fitted

.......and if they do work, they then tend to drip once switched back on.
