When a old combi is being replaced for a new combi boiler ,does the the old system need powerflushing thanks.

does,nt have to be a powerflush, you can use a standard cleanser ie x400,

yes thats the way i do it,x400 in for 30 hours then all rads of and flushed untill clean ditto pipework,re-fit and add x100 re-check potency of inhibitor every 2 years with test kit or litumas [ph] paper.yes hard work but very effective

Read the MFIs as some manufacturers are now asking for a power flush, most do not but do want the system flushed in a particular manner. Dont follow their instructions and you havent a leg to stand on if anything fails under warranty.

I was on the Worcester Bosch CDI i nstall course. The guy teaching us said that the heating water should be within 10% of the water that comes out of the tap.:eek:

Yes ca flush is essential, but....I installed a baxi 80 eco into my then gfs terraced house 6yrs ago, 8 rads, plastic pipe, some of it micro bore (tsk tsk I hear some of you say) (it was free and plentiful from work at the time!), Ive drained the system twice in 5yrs to fit an old school rad in the bathroom and another in the living room, Ive only had to top the sytem up once in that time.
just before xmas I fitted a vaillant 831, did I flush the system out? no!, its always had plenty of x100 in it and the water that came out of the hose pipe was like evian to the last drop, a flush would have been in my opinion a waste of time and money.
Iam getting married to the same gf in July this year.
