Hi Everyone...I am a M&E project manager (so no real gas experience)
I have an issue on a poly-clinic coming up for handover, we have two LTHW boilers and two DHW generators, they are designed to operate as duty/standby controlled by the BMS, i.e. so in theory only one of each will work at any one time.
Mech Engineer has said that the guys commissioning the boilers were insisting that when they commission all boilers should be running at the same time (presumably for gas pressure reasons). Now I can understand running a LTHW and a DHW boiler at the same time after the individual boilers have been commissioned...to establish that they will work in normal use, but I can't understand why they all have to be running, is this a gas safe thing?
Trouble is the gas meter (and pipework) has been sized by the M&E consultant on the normal peak load, not to allow all the boilers to be running for commissioning purposes. Is there a specific regulation that stipulates all kit should be running at the time of commissioning regardless of the control protocol? (Would love a specific gas regulation and wording either way)
In terms of duty/standby set up, is BMS control enough to satisfy gas safe or do they need to be locked off by hand as well
