been watching dvd i bought and the polish fella reckons that compression fittings for gravity feed systems and there are different compression fitting for sealed systems?

also just curious how it works when testing vented systems, do u just take off the nearest compression fitting to were u have been working and cap it off test and re fit.. or is it enough just to close isolation valve for testing, are u aloud to use jg stop ends while testing,, also what bar do u test at. thanks men.

another thing is it ok to solder between joists. thanks men

the polish fella don't know what he is talking about imho

yes it's ok to solder between joists as long as you make every effort to move combustable materials like insulation.

Don't wan't to sound rude but if you number your questions its much easier to refer to

ps a compression fitting is a compression fitting

agree with gas man, if your working in domestic situations most of the time the only tests you will be doing is water tests and visual inspection, for a vented system i would just be filling and checking for any leaks. The only differences for compression is imperial and metric olives.

if you are pressure testing then it is good practice to cap pipework after iso valve as they can pass and fail a test, you would pressure test at 1.5x the standing pressure if i remember correctly.

thanks men, the dvd is basicly a filmed intensive plumbing course, ha. i start evening classes in college in september so wont need the dvds then.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that there are 2 types of comp fittings,( not including imperial/ metric) the standard type, fitting-olive-nut. and the type where you have to flare the end of the pipe and physical clamp the pipe with the fitting, but these are mostly for oil. I also don't believe that there are any regs/ guidelines on the use of compressing fitting on heating systems!!

Type A's (non manipulative) ie your std compression fitting with a ring, should not be used below ground.

Type A, above ground. Type B below ground.
A - above
B - below

A Polish fella !!!.We all know these guys were trained by NASA.Check out some of their handy work on YouTube they know everything

The last Polish plumbing job I saw had flexis on a towel radiator. Worst I seen was a diy nob had fitted a gate valve to his expansion pipe "coz water kept coming out of it," he said.

Loved that remote cistern! Lol!
And, don't them guys use clips?
Thanks for that!

If I had a choice between Polish tradesmen and my daughters nursery doing work in my house, the nursery would win hands down. At least the wee ones would make a more professional job of destroying my house than the Polish tradesmen.

No'' the polish would win everytime

The important question is "Did the leave any leaks & does the toilet flush"?
