Hi

can someone advise on the condensate trap on a ideal unica HE condi boiler. does the condensate trap work on a float system ie keeping a constant level in the tank or should it be empty

cheers

not familiar with this boiler but most condesate traps work on a syphon and stay partialy full to seal flue gases in

thanks for the reply steve
was looking at my daughters boiler and noticed the trap was near full with water and maybe it wasnt working properly
thanks for the advice was a bit dissapointed it took 2 days to get a reply from anyone on the site

again many thanks

They usually have a level of water in them, bit like a bog, keeps the smell of the waste out. Also seals it from fumes and combustion air.

as kip says, they are designed to be full of water. its not to prevent smell from the drains coming in as a normal trap under your basin does. they are there in principal to keep the products of combustion in the chamber and to make sure they exit via the flu, instead of the drain.
