Hello everybody i am new here and need some advice,i have just had a worcester condensing boiler fitted on the first floor. The plumber told me he would fit a condensing pump and run the outlet to the soil stack, but then said the soil stack is to far from the pump so he has run the pipe into the loft and pushed through under the tiles. Will this be ok? i am thinking i could drill a hole through the gutter board and the downpipe and that would be better as the downpipe is nearer than the soil stack.what do you think?
thanks mick.

What a coincidence! My son had a new boiler installed in the last two days on the first floor and a condensate pump was installed. The installer did not raise any problem with distance from boiler to stack pipe. The run went up into the loft to near the top of the rafters (a rise of 2.5-3 metres) then along and down to the stack. The installer explained they did it that way so the pump was just lifting the water; gravity did the rest.

The pump literature should say what lift and distance it can pump. What sort of distance are we talking about in a straight line from boiler to stack? Which pump did they install?

It should not be just stuck under a tile. The condensate is acidic and could cause damage.

The soil stack is about 25feet from the boiler, and thats if you layed it across the joists if you went up in the rafters it would be a lot more. Also because the pipe is flexy plastic hose it would drop between the rafters and not drain properly. The nearest gutter downpipe is about 9 feet away so i think thats my best option.

it shouldnt be in flexihose plastic over flow or plastic waste pie is the right thing as said before you run up high so that graity takes it to the stack may need to be lagged or oversized if its a long run
