I have to connect a shower valve to a 3/4" female and in the instructions shows what looks like hemp which I have not used before. I tried using PTFE which on its own did not work but then added more loops of PTFE with plumbers mate and got a watertight seal on hot but not on cold. It seems on the cold that no matter how much PTFE I wind on it just does not seal the joint.
So now I am going down the hemp route for both joints and hope that someone can tell me whether Boss Green or Fernox compound is best with the hemp and an idea how to do it.
