Hi All,

I am doing my first plumbing job for a friend and it involves the following:

- cloak room: Change a toilet and add in a wash basin with the pipes running under the floor boards. (have to find a hot pipe from somewhere.)

- Bathroom: Replace the bath, replace the wash bash and add in isolator valves, add in a shower unit into the wall.

So how much sould I charge for this work and how long would it take a normal plumber to do this job?

Any advice would be great?

Thanks

Mike

you have got a few variables there
firstly location of an accesible hot pipe
second bathroom tiled or not tiled and are you to make good after
how good are the walls as when chasing out for a concealed shower pipe some walls can fall to bits thus more making good
as a rough guide as you are not experienced then you cant charge proper rates
as a very rough rule of thumb a proper plumber would charge this out at 150-200 per day and prob knock it out baring any probs in approx 3 days if no making good
allow a day to day and a half for cloakroom if u have easy access to hot supply maybe less
allow 2 days to do bathroom
regular plumber prob in the region of 600.00 for 3 days so if you charge whatever your friend is happy with bearing in mind you might take 4-5 days to do the job but cant charge what a pro will do in 3 days

Hard to say without full details but running the hot pipe to the WB could take longer than installing the wc & basin total. If the original is old then might be some problems lining up bath sizes heights etc .. If you mean a shower mixer? will you feed from the bath taps or where? are there tiles to remove? are they cut to the shape of the existing WB or tiled through?.. are they easy obtained tiles or hard to get replacements.

If you have looked at the job then you should know where & what you are going to connect to both on H&C & waste pipes before you quote as this will dictate positioning and time to a major degree
.
If you cannot estimate the time just allow a week (making good/sealing etc. can take a lot of time).. work out how much you think is fair for a week and quote that ...

Simples!!
