Dear All

I have been asked to supply and fit 2 radiators for a customer. The sizes are 1200*400 & 900* 700, they are both doubles. The 900 is a straight swap and the 1200 is a replacement for a smaller unit with a bit of pipework involved to centre under bedroom window.

Can you give a rough idea of what and or how I should be costing for this job and what if any mark up should I put on the rads (I am using exisiting trvs and lock shields). I usually allow 2 hours per radiator as im newbie and not up to speed yet.

At most I will need a metre of copper pipe.

Should I charge for disposal ?

All help gratefully accepted

Thank you in anticipation. Plumb Bob😕

always charge for disposal!

customers never want to be left with dirty old radiators

You may have to change the valves depending on the age when you remove them

It sounds like 2 hours work in total for me so you should charge for 2 hours labour regardless of how long it takes you

You can only charge and take away old radiators if you have a waste carrier licence (tecnicaly) However a lot of people do take away old bits because we are all nice people 😀

where i live, you only have to place a radiator in your garden and stop looking at it for 5 minutes and its gone!
saves the problem of waste carriers license !!

we get the gypsys sounding there bloody horn round here - they'll take anything metal - well theyll take anything if its not screwed down to be honest.

op
depends if its a vented system

i always make on the rads, so although retail may say 120 i pay 40 i still charge 120 plus labour i might only charge 80 labour so it would be 200 (but in reality im making 160)

Seems you have all under control, just charge your hourly rate as above, you may do a little quicker but do not forget you have also done the running around, picking up materials ect,as said desposal is not a problem, but do tell the customer you will remove rads inclusive, would not charge extra for it. 🙂
