Hi,

I wonder if you can all please help me I have my gas exams coming up but would appreciate some clarification on a couple or four things!

1) when working our a gas rate on a boiler - do you compare it to the boiler input or output on the boilers plate/badge?

2) What is the tolorence in the readings between calcs from gas rate and boiler plate/badge?

3) When working out the gas rate on a cooker where normally is the badge/plate?

4) When working out the working pressure on a boiler, if that confirms correct pipesizing/gas etc do you have to put on all other appliances on full blast whilst doing the test?

Thanks!

always input you are calculating how much gas it is using, not how efficient it is

2) What is the tolorence in the readings between calcs from gas rate and boiler plate/badge?
technically no tolerence, as it should all be ok, but in reality 10% is deemed ok, as you might not be exact with stopwatch/taking reading

3) When working out the gas rate on a cooker where normally is the badge/plate?
"usually" either inside the bottom storage area under the oven (if it has on) or on the back somewhere, (not much help am i ? but they are all over the place) remember 3 rings on, not 4

4) When working out the working pressure on a boiler, if that confirms correct pipesizing/gas etc do you have to put on all other appliances on full blast whilst doing the test?
be precise in what you are asking, i THINK you are mixing up checking boiler working pressure and installation working pressure, IF its just boiler WP you want they you MUST HAVE BOILER ONLY ON, think about it, how can you check boiler WP against MI while burnignanother 3 appliances, however if you are checking all is well with the whole install then you would have everything on checking what is happening with each of them in turn

how close are your exams? you seem a bit unsure, not having a dig but perhaps if exam is near you are just getting a bit frazzled, chill out and get your head back into the books

Where are you doing the course have you got any details?
cheers stuart
