Gas Engineer

Morning chaps, it's been a while since my last post, mainly coz of my work load. Things are going very well & after 2 years + all the hard work has paid off, I'm now at a stage where I'm busy every day & could do 7 days a week if I wanted :eek:mg_smile:

Anyway, just a quick one lads. When doing a gas safety check on a boiler & I use my new FGA should I be issuing a CP12 as well as the FGA print out? Or do as BG do & just print out the readings from the FGA?

Thanks for any help with this peeps, hope everyone has a good day & happy Friday :rockon2::rockon2::rockon2::rockon2:

If you are doing a cp12, then cert should be issued. The only reason I print out and attach fga results to the cert, is so it proves that i didnt just enter any old figure in the readings box on the cp12.
Hope this helps

You can print out operating pressure, tightness if you want also but you must issue cert. fga print out dosnt satisfy requirements.

How do BG get away with only doing a print?
If they are doing a Gas Safety check for a homeowner there is no LEGAL requirement to issue any bit of paper.
But of course customer may want something to prove you did it.

If doing a Gas Safety Inspection for a Landlord then a written report must be issued that complies with the Gas Safety Regs 1998. - a CP12 does this, but you could be using different stationary.

CP12 is the old code number for the CORGI landlords gas safety record. There is no legal requirement to record combustion readings on this form. It requires the minimum statutory tests results as in the GSIU regs 26(9). If you want to include the combustion readings then that is up to the engineer. Personally I do record them on the form as it adds value to my professional approach to the job and covers ones back a little more.

when the changes to the benchmark form are put into the instructions they should make a second page which includes readings at service date. Most manufacturers have something on a second page to record service date and engineers details but not any readings. A history of readings helps the next engineer doiing work.
