I went out to a job 5 weeks ago. The lady had tried to install a dishwasher herself and managed to flood her kitchen. The trap was dodgy and was leaking really badly.
I changed the trap for her, did a test and it was fine. We checked the dishwasher, washing machine and filled the sink and emptied it out into the trap (different times) No problems.

She was happy with it, I charged her my hourly fee for an emergency. As she called me out on a Friday night at 8pm.

5 weeks later she just called me up and said the traps leaking again. After talking to her in more depth about it, i found out she has uninstalled her dishwasher as she has decided she no longer wants it? and now she's getting a really bad leak again. So she's obviously messed about with it because it wouldn't suddenly start leaking for no reason.

As per my website i guarantee my labour for 8 weeks so i said i would go an have a look at it for her. But she expected me to guarantee her parts aswell. I advised her i guarantee my labour only. I said i would happily fit her another trap with a single waste inlet for her washing machine but she would have to pick it up otherwise there would be a charge. She has told me to forget it. We argued about it. Why on earth would i replace parts at my own cost? I don't know anyone that would guarantee parts apart from suppliers. What if the part had been a hundred pound would she expect a plumber to pay that and replace it for her?

Some people are just stupid mate.
You're telling me. I hate to argue with customers but i'm not being taken for a ride. Plus she's over the other side of the next city to mine. So it's a good hour and half drive.

Hi Guy , Silly woman basically! I get it all the time mate , before I start any job where the custard has bought the parts I also mention the labour only guarantee , and again when given the invoice I write it on too it's only sods law that it will leak. Which is why I recommend my parts which have 3 month labour and parts guarantee. I would have invoiced again for the second callout ( or made her aware of it if she has messed with it. ) What on earth are you doing working 1 and a half hours away ? is it really that bad in dudley? no wonder your upset.
