Do all of you other gas installers come across this on a regular basis? it drives me crazy! people treat gas like its a non skilled job, and expect it done for peanuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

ALL THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!! but if they want a boiler swap its£1750 min, some take it ,some run off screaming, normally see them down the line begging for assistance.

I couldn't agree anymore with you lame plumber. In Yorkshire there are way too many gas men. I know taxi drivers becoming gas men wth!!

It is something that we will all see more and more, in the current economic climate imho.

Landlords are by far the worst for this. You price a boiler change for them, they swear a lot, then a week later they say 'I'v got a boiler, can you come & fit it' you say yes '££££' then they swear even more....

All just part of the job

I gave an estimate for a tank change quite detailed, lady phone me and said could i give a price breakdown on all parts and materials. I told her if you wants a price list go to sainsburys.

if you think someone is going to try and haggle a price, just give them a higher price to start and then make them think they are getting a better deal ;)

Was talking with Mr TP only last night about general public contempt for gas appliances and gas engineers.
Hence people think it is a trivial job, don't expect to pay much, many people don't ever expect to get appliances serviced. Have no idea of risks.

ANd they have no idea of the responsibility that the Gas Engineer carries when he does that job.

Our public liability is more than twice as much as it would be if we were (almost) any other construction trade - and there is a reason for that.
