ok guys following on from a previous thread boiler job has old single wall flue with roof termination so i need to fit new boiler and take flue out the tile using an upstand
now what do you use to cut the hole in the tile for flue??
answers on a postcard please

A Roofer! :):)

Depends what the roof is. If its modern concrete tile a whizzer( angle grinder). If its slate, a slate knife and slate hammer or angle grinder.

And a lead slate made to the roof pitch or a bought rubber one.:):)

tks bernie angle grinder looks best bet and then a lead upstand/tile
i hate roofs but lucky its chalet style and has a flat roof close enought to stand on

Yes Justlead the old lead slate and upstand with a neoprene collar to seal the top of the upstand around the pipe, takes some beating doesn't it?

Hi Bernie. On occasions and odd sized flue pipes a weathering seal can be made by cutting a band from a disused inner tube, readerly avaiable from tyre shops.
